    Borrowed Stone

    $500

    The turquoise is 28 × 15 × 8 mm because that is what arrived. It could have been cut down to a calibrated oval and dropped into a stock setting; instead the metal opens at the base and the stone keeps its own outline.

    An 8 × 6 mm agate cabochon, held on three points. A closed bezel would have folded metal right around the rim and tidied the edge out of sight; three points leave the edge of the stone where you can see it.

    Five petals, each carved by hand from mother-of-pearl. Cut from one sheet with the grain matched they would agree with each other; carved one at a time they do not, so no two petals on a flower are alike.

    Misaligned Pearl

    The pearls are 8 – 9 mm, which is a range rather than a size. A matched pair is bought graded to one diameter and one shape; this pair was mirrored rather than matched, so worn together they do not align.
